About the Product

We are building a global collaboration platform for musicians, producers, songwriters, and creators, enabling them to discover talent, exchange ideas, and collaborate on music projects worldwide.

One of our biggest technical challenges is developing an intelligent search and discovery system. Rather than relying solely on keyword matching, our platform must understand semantic intent behind complex queries such as “soft piano” or “female drummer” by indexing and analyzing rich data from user profiles, audio assets, projects, images, metadata, tags, and user interactions.

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a key role in designing and building scalable backend services, AI-powered search capabilities, and high-performance distributed systems that power the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Backend API & Real-time Services

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend microservices and RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
• Build backend services supporting core platform features, including:
  • User Profiles
  • Real-time Messaging (WebSockets / Socket.io)
  • Interactive Feeds
  • Project Collaboration & Management
  • Notifications
• Optimize SQL/NoSQL databases and Redis caching strategies to achieve API response times below 100ms.

Search & AI Discovery

• Design and implement Search & Recommendation services, including:
  • Keyword Search
  • Metadata Ranking
  • Vector Search
  • Semantic Search
• Process, structure, and index metadata from audio files, media assets, tags, projects, and user activities.
• Build AI-assisted matching and discovery features using Vector Databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, or FAISS.

System Reliability & DevOps

• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability for production environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Sentry.

Requirements

Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Developer working on production-grade systems.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining scalable backend services and distributed systems.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages: Node.js (TypeScript), Python, or Go 
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, API design, caching strategies, and database optimization.

Search & AI (Highly Preferred)

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Semantic Search
• Vector Search
• Recommendation Engines
• AI-powered Search Systems
• Audio or Media Metadata Processing
• Vector Databases (Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, or FAISS)

Soft Skills
